Its a good quote. I'm writing a paper about coastal development, and erosion and I need that quote, and where it came from(which chapter and verse).
so I can put it in correctly and sight my source.
Thanks in advanceWhere is the the bible quote about not building a house on sand, but building a house on a rock instead?
Matthew 7:24-27 and Luke 6:47-49Where is the the bible quote about not building a house on sand, but building a house on a rock instead?
Citing a source from the Bible? How about citing a source from common sense?
Unless it's a paper for a religious school, citing a source from the Bible will get you nothing but laughs.
Anyway, look at Matthew 7:24.
But please, for research papers whose focus isn't religion, avoid religion. It's an almost guaranteed bad grade.
Matthew 7:24-29
1- The wise man built his house upon the rock (3)
And the rain came tumbling down.
The rain came down and the floods went up (3)
And the house on the rock stood still.
2- The foolish man built his house upon the sand (3)
And the rain came tumbling down.
The rain came down and the floods went up (3)
And the house on the sand fell down.
That quote wasn't talking about building a house, it was talking about building your faith in God. If your faith isn't rock solid, which is the foundation of your beliefs, then as soon as trial and tribulation comes your way then you will stumble and fall.
Jesus was illustrating in Mathew 24-27 that it isnt the storms of life that destroys us. It is our foundations. The storm hit both houses. That is why it is ridiculous to say that tribulations and trials builds faith. If you are not strong in faith when the trials hit, you will succumb to them. Then religiuosly many people say';it must not be Gods will to heal me';.No, your faith is not built on the rock. Which is revelation knowledge Jesus talked about when he told Peter, '; and upon this rock( revelation knowledge, knowledge revealed to the spirit man by God) I will build my church.Peter is not the rock Jesus was talking about, but the fact that Peter had the revelation that Jesus is the Messiah revealed to his heart by God.All those today who are true believers come the same way. You get a revelation in your spirit that God raised Jesus from the dead, and you are totally convinced of that truth. If you have made Peter your rock, that is sand, He did deny Jesus three times.
Luke 6:48 is another good one.
';He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.';
I kinda doubt something that smart is actually written in the bible. if it is for once sound advice from the bible.
and yet as we speak some other idiot is building their house on sand or on non-compacted soil.
