I had one when I was a little kid. My mom just broke it into pieces and popped them into the microwave. If I remember correctly, it softened it enough to eat.How can I soften my rock hard, two day old gingerbread house so I can eat it?

Put it in an airtight container with a piece of bread. I have done this before with cookies I cooked too long %26amp; it worked. Don't know why, but it did.
Put a glass of water in the microwave and heat it to boiling. Then take the Gingerbread house, and cover it with plastic, with the hot water inside, and heat it for awhile. Keep an eye on it. Then let it sit in the microwave, covered for a few minutes. the moisture should soften the gingerbread enough to eat it. If not -- it is just too dried out and stale to eat.
I wouldn't use boiling water (steaming it basically). But, I have used the bread in the airtight container (or covered in a food safe large plastic bag), and I know that that does work well. It doesn't even take more than a day or so. Otherwise, you could put the pieces in the food processor and use the crumbs for a wonderful cheesecake crust or sprinkles over pudding or desserts or any cookie recipe that calls for a cookie/graham cracker crumb base.
Have some fun and enjoy! Oh, and I do like the idea of just breaking the 'house' apart and dunking in coffee !
I dont know really a good method, but i guess you can separate the cookie parts and dip them in a good cup of coffee or tea and eat them like that, or use them as base for cheesecakes or other pastries (dipped with liqueur, syrup, or processed in your food processor and then mixing this powder with melted butter, then put it on the bottom of your pan pressing it a little, like normal crust for pies made with crackers.)
Pour some milk on it , about a cup. If it`s still hard , pour some more!
I would try multiple apple slices all around and in it and seal it up in a plastic bag for a day. I think the nuke thing would make hard and soft spots. Definitely an interesting dilema in the food world.
