I suggest finding a contractor that will do a faux finish. It's a cement overlay that will give the effect of stone or brick without having to replace the stairs. It looks very nice if done correctly. Try looking for a company that does epoxy finishes or concrete coatings. How do I cap my concrete stairs outside my house with stone/rock?
Had some similar work done %26amp; did some myself.
Had some stone 1-12'; thick cut to size %26amp; edges dressed at mason's supply yard.
Stone suggested was something like bluestone ,but had a coarser surface %26amp; not as slippery when wet, also less expensive
Set it on concrete steps w/ straight portland cement as instructed.
Installed at slight downward angle toward riser to prevent pooling of rainwater.
Was able to even out riser heights (said 7 to 9'; was OK) %26amp; correct level side to side.
Not difficult except for grunt work.
Best regards
