School House Rock has about 6 different characters, but the lines can be broken up and the solos sung by different people. Here is a link to the Broadway jr Version of the show (a shorten version that can be done by kids)

We did the show a couple of years ago here in Vegas. The way the script is set up there is no specific gender casting. The director can decide if they want a male or female to sing a certain song. Since all the characters actually just use the names of the actors it is pretty open.
I hate break your heart but School House Rock was a cartoon eductional sement that ABC networks put on durning their saturday morning cartoons back in the early 80's, such as ';I am just a bill'; or ';conjuction junction whats your function';. In late 90's a tribute album was produced featuring such bands as delux floke implossion and blind mellon.
